Qantas buying airfreight trucking business
Australia’s Qantas Airways is acquiring domestic airfreight trucking business Jets Transport Express, in line with efforts to expand its freight operations.
The Oneworld alliance carrier says in a statement that it expects to complete the acquisition by the end of May.
“Jets provides bonded interstate trucking for domestic legs of international airfreight using trailers that are specially designed to handle airfreight pallets,” says Qantas.
“The acquisition of Jets will allow us for the first time to offer a truly seamless transfer between international and domestic operations.”
Qantas has identified freight as having strong potential for growth and it has been seeking acquisitions both at home in Australia and in Asia.
