Munich Airport in southern German has been partially shut down following a security alert involving a suspicious laptop, local police have told the media.

German television network N-24 is reporting that a man fled the security zone in Munich Airport after traces of an explosive were detected on his laptop during routine checks.

The bomb alert happened at about 3.30pm local time, prompting police to evacuate passengers from Terminal 2 of Munich Airport. A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect.

At least 12 flights have been delayed due to the security scare, though Munich Airport remains open.
