Flying high … extra seats for summer holidaymakers

Monarch Airlines will be able to carry more passengers to summer holiday heaven come May, when capacity will be increased on its flights leaving from UK airports.

The extra scheduled services will mainly be available from London Luton Airport, from 27 May. The airline’s offerings will also include additional connections to holiday hotspots such as Faro, Majorca, Alicante, Dalaman and Gibraltar.

Monarch has decided to provide the increased capacity following strong demand from its passengers for increased access to popular summer haunts from airports across the country.

Alongside London Luton’s flights, passengers can also choose from an additional weekly flight to Larnaca, departing from Manchester. There will also be a whopping 16,000 more seats on offer to popular destinations such as Majorca, Malaga and Lanzarote from Gatwick Airport.

Kevin George, Monarch managing director, said, “Bookings for summer are already up 27 per cent compared with the same time last year with demand from customers still increasing, so we are delighted to respond to this by adding over 135,000 additional seats to our flying programme this summer season.”

Meanwhile, the business development manager at Luton airport, Simon Harley, said that the announcement of the additional flights meant excellent ‘convenience and value’ for passengers heading off on holiday from Luton Airport this summer.
