KLM ups Aruba flights, more options for UK flyers
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced plans to increase the number of flights it offers to Aruba, giving UK travellers more opportunities to visit the Caribbean destination.
Flights to Aruba will increase from two per week to five per week from 30 October. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is the departure point, which is well served from 15 airports around the UK including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
Aruba welcomes almost one million visitors each year. Although the majority of visitors to the island are from the US, Venezuela and the Netherlands (Aruba is a former Dutch colony) many UK travellers are drawn to the island by its white sandy beaches and endless sun. Oranjestad, Aruba’s capital, is full of restaurants, casinos, nightclubs and shops and strolling through this small town is delightful.
“The new flights will further reinforce Aruba as one of the top ten Caribbean destinations for British travellers,” said Joanna Walding, UK director of the Aruba Tourism Authority.
“With KLM’s increased service this winter, getting to Aruba is easier than ever before. With temperatures rarely dipping below 28 degrees, the island is the perfect destination for some winter sun.”
Flights will depart from Amsterdam on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12:45pm and will arrive in Aruba at 5.50pm (the same day). The return flight will depart from Aruba at 7:10pm, arriving in Amsterdam at 11:10am (the following day).
Flights to Aruba are also available from the UK with British Airways and several American airlines. Thomson offers a seasonal service from London Gatwick and Manchester airports between May and November.
