Ilyushin Finance has signed a firm order worth $1.5 billion at list prices for 31 Tupolev Tu-204SMs to be produced in 2010-12 at United Aircraft’s (OAK) Aviastar plant in Ulianovsk.

The deal - which also includes options for 30 more aircraft - is a launch order for the 210-seat SM version featuring improved Perm PS-90A2 turbofans and improved avionics and on-board systems.

This version will stay in production until it is replaced by the next-generation MS-21 narrowbody.

The deal also contains option for 30 more airframes. If firmed up, it will bring the contract value to $3 billion - the rise in unit price for the second batch reflecting the expected decreasing purchasing power of the dollar. <
