EasyJet unveils first new routes of 2010
EasyJet has revealed details of its first new routes for 2010, opening up connections between Gatwick Airport and the German cities of Düsseldorf and Hamburg.
The new air links are the first of about 70 services due to be announced by the low-cost carrier this year, bringing the total number of routes it operates to more than 500.
EasyJet had already confirmed plans to expand at Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport this April, launching flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Faro, Palma and Prague.
Commenting on the additions, chief executive Andy Harrison said: “EasyJet continues to attract new customers because we offer the lowest fares to the most convenient airports.”
He continued: “Despite the challenging economic conditions, we will grow 10 per cent and will carry 50 million passengers this year on over 500 routes. The 70 new routes we will launch in the coming months will reinforce our position as Europe’s number one air transport network.”
The no-frills airline will begin its new flights to Düsseldorf and Hamburg immediately, bolstering its existing German presence in Berlin, Munich and Dortmund.
