Drive away … at a discount

Travellers heading to India for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup can save a packet on car hire with Avis discounts.

The car hire firm has announced a special deal – which runs until 2 April – offering 20 per cent off the cost of hiring either a self-drive or a chauffeur-driven car in 18 cities across India.

Sunil Gupta, CEO of Avis India, said that travellers flocking to India from all over the world would be eligible for the deal, alongside local residents. Announcing the special promotion, Mr Gupta said that “cricket is viewed very much as a religion” in India, so the car hire offer was open to all to enable them to enjoy the experience.

Travellers looking to book a self-drive car can take their pick from economy cars including the ever-popular Ford Fiesta or Honda City, up to high-end vehicles, such as the BMW 5 Series, Toyota Camry and Mercedes E and S Class vehicles.
