Adam Air 737 skids off runway at Batam
An Adam Air Boeing 737 skidded off the runway at Batam in Indonesia earlier today resulting in damage to the landing gear.
The airline’s president, Adam Suherman, says that at around 10:40 one of the carrier’s 737-400s skidded off the runway at Batam, which is an island near Singapore.
There were no fatalities and all 170 passengers were evacuated from the aircraft which had arrived in Batam from Jakarta, says Suherman, who was unable to confirm if there were injuries.
The aircraft ended up “10m from the runway” and the landing gear is damaged, says Suherman, adding that it is in soft ground.
